At Prestbury Court we have two dining rooms and residents’
lounges where various activities take place or can be used for
quiet reading and some private family time. Our conservatory room opens on to a large outdoor patio area, furnished with
tables, chairs and sun umbrellas which gives fine views over
the surrounding countryside.
The patio leads to a large mature and sheltered garden with
shaded seating areas, a summer house as well as a semi-covered area where residents can enjoy sitting on less sunny
days and perhaps enjoy a cream tea. The gardens have several
wide and gentle pathways which can be easily accessed both
on foot and with a wheelchair, ensuring that all residents can
enjoy the garden. We also have a well stocked fish pond.
At Prestbury Court we have our very own polytunnel, which
many of our residents enjoy using to plant seedlings, grow
tomatoes or just to lend our gardener a helping hand.
When new residents come to Prestbury Court (or any of the Avens Care Homes), we are very keen that they should feel at
home as soon as possible. As such we are more than happy
for residents to bring items with them that may help them to
continue with hobbies and past-times – whether it is an artist’s
easel, their own furniture or even a garden shed!
In 2005, as part of our newly built wing, we incorporated a very
special ‘sensory room’, which allows residents to enjoy a
relaxing and calming setting.
